Abstract
Abstract: With the continuing identification of new and divergent major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I proteins, some with potentially novel functions, the ‘class Ib’ category is now outdated. Here, Austin Hughes and colleagues propose a change in the way we classify class I genes and their products.
